A few weeks ago I found a sweet chestnut tree. It’s hidden in a quiet corner of the cemetery. I came across it as I was following the untouched blackberry bushes and stuffing huge ones in my mouth two or three at a time. Noah hates me eating blackberries. I’m supposed to keep moving even though he’s ages behind with his little limp. So this tree has conkers, only they’re not. So sharp surely nothing can get near the fruit. Google tells me to wait until they drop or they will be unripe and so I do. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today I went to see and half the tree has gone. Chopped down by the ‘landscapers’. The men with their nice ride on machines and earphones and sunglasses and I’m going to try so hard not to ask my next taxi driver how I can obtain a gun. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
