Poverty, male abuse and murder from a female perspective…I jest
I’m currently reading a factual account of some horrendous Australian serial murders from back in 1992.
But I am wanting to write about the poverty that surrounded both the victims and perpetrators and the constant abuse. The absolute male abuse that runs like a constant thread through every family involved in this story from hell.
Poverty is the start of it all. That goes without saying. Government funded housing rich in multi parented families, low IQ’s, drugs and depression. A hell hole of struggling life. A festering stew of the least able, the disaffected and the vulnerable. No white privilege here.
Women used and abused, looking for love but getting bad genes, bad vibes and a beating. More kids. More hell.
This isn’t just Australia back then. We all know that it still goes on.
The thing I’m struggling with more than than the murders though is that every single person in this story was abused. Both male and female. From a very young age. If it wasn’t the father or the uncle it was the brother or the neighbour. They didn’t care about the age nor the sex. They just had to abuse in one way or another. Oh and rape their wives. More babies born into this cesspit to continue this vile soup of fear.
I struggle on a daily basis reading the news because it’s always about men and what they do.
What they do.
PS: Look up the Snowtown Murders and let me know what you think.
