Walking the dogs yesterday morning I passed a young woman and her baby setting off towards town. I turned around and said ‘I don’t know if you’ve seen the Facebook posts but..’ she said she had and was taking care. Here in Keighley we have Eastern Europeans targeting young women with pushchairs in attempts to take babies. Hasn’t that always been an Eastern European thing? Baby snatching or is it just people trafficking? It rings a bell somewhere. Anyway a guy got stabbed in the neck three times in one of our parks last week too and there’s also a creepy looking thing hanging around the primary schools but refusing when asked to move along. A couple of weeks back we had the guy pretending to be a copper and pulling up cars and various weirdo shit until he finally got arrested. Most of us knew about him on social media fairly quickly as has been the case with all these incidents. Thank fuck for that because we wouldn’t get to find out any other way.
Which begs the question: when are we going to be allowed to fight back? A start would be being able to defend ourselves. I am still fully aware that if we were allowed to carry a handgun in this country the XL Bully down at the cemetery that it’s braindead elderly owners couldn’t control would now be dead. A blessing to society indeed but what if I’d missed and got the old woman too? Probably still a blessing to society considering her stupidity but I’d be locked up now.
So perhaps it’s time for pepper spray to be made legal at the very least? Are the people committing crimes going to use it? Possibly. But surely it’s better they use that than a knife?
In the meantime the ordinary working person get’s on with their daily grind whilst the lowlife arms itself with whatever it likes and commits outrageous acts of violence. Where is the sense in this? What civilised society allows this to happen? To let the odds weigh in on the side of the psychopath, the miscreant, the fucking weirdo, the bully or the lazy arse?
Things need turning on their arse. That piece of shit, Clifford that got three life sentences today: give him the option of the magic death needle. Give all of them the option. Make big floating prisons out at sea, on old stinking landfills or islands at the back of beyond. Make the idea of prison a hell on earth not an opportunity to upgrade the skills of those intrinsically inclined to wrongdoing.
The young girl with the baby I spoke to yesterday should be legally allowed to carry some form of protection for her child and herself in a town where she is clearly at risk. Why are people so quiet? Why do we not all shout louder?
I will, will you?
