The things I remember

A Quiet Riot With Words & Art

ISRAEL

HonestInk,

I need to stop watching the international news stations but I can’t. It’s heart breaking and incomprehensible in equal measure. But I feel it’s the least that I can do. Hear about the horror and cry for these people.

Today I listened to first hand accounts of what the soldiers faced when they came to the Supernova music festival and the first Kibbutz that was massacred. Babies peppered with bullets in their cots, people burned alive in their cars, families tied together and shot. Soldiers beheaded. A pregnant women had her baby cut from her womb. It was still attached by the umbilical cord when they shot the unborn child and the mother in the head. They uploaded video footage of removing elderly people from their oxygen and medication to take as hostages. Videos as they shoved their erections into not only the living but the dead and the leftover parts of the dead that they had blown up with hand grenades. It’s worse than a bloody horror story written by Clive Barker. If only it were fiction.

I, like most of the world am sickened to the core. This has all happened in other countries at other times but internet and social media are showing us how it really is as we sit at home eating our evening meal. Living our lives as normal. Worrying about bed bugs and the price of beans.

The Palestinians too are now also being decimated. No food, no power, no medicine. The terrorists hiding behind them like the cowards they are. Stuck in the middle with nowhere to run. Egypt won’t give them an escape route out of Gaza. Islamic solidarity at it’s finest! And of course there’s the grist of it: Islam. The lovely religion of peace.

So some previous Hamas leader safely ensconced in Qatar has asked the Islamic world to rise up tomorrow on Friday 13th and protest against Israel. That it’s a day of Jihad. I live surrounded by people of the Muslim faith most of whom are lovely. What do they think I wonder? Does a 2000 year old fight about land and differing religions warrant the atrocities this last weekend?

My argument will always remain the same. Men and their religion. We see the pure competition, testosterone and hatred coming. going and during a football match. Multiply that and add some draconian religion and you create the accomplices of the devil.

When a vast majority of the western world are enlightened enough to understand that religion was simply written as a rulebook for the people. That there are only stars and planets in the sky and you won’t get 72 virgins if you die blowing up other people along with yourself. It’s blackmail. Simply brainwashing and blackmail.

And this, this is what has led to a load of ‘men’ thinking they were something out of a sadistic Bond film. Dropping in by motorbike, hang glider and bulldozer. I can imagine them psyched up to this point of murder by their masters. Go do this job for us and you will be rewarded aplenty.

If only the women could take charge for awhile.

If only…
